What your saying isn't true either, to an extent steam says everybody owns every free game, that's why you can't steam share and free games or dlc, however, you only retain access to games that you added to your library after they are delisted, free or not. G2A calls it a founders edition key which sounds right. I just looked it up on G2A and it's $60USD there but haven't used that site in years, might be cheaper elsewhere.Īnd to be clear, you need a pc key that can be redeemed on steam. If you're really after the game now you have to get an old CD key which might be on places like ebay / amazon I dunno. What you're asking steam to do is add a game that used to cost $60USD to your account for free. If we want legacy, we have to go into the betas section. You get the base game, and since stage 2 is technically the base game (which they just let people have free access to it for a while) we get that. You can't buy any new keys for evolve through steam since it's been unlisted, but any keys from before still work. The only people playing now have a key to the original evolve. This happened with Stage 2, someone yesterday was asking about what to do now with the purchase button. Anything like that left on your machine after the free period has the play button turn into a purchase button. This includes free weekend things which stop being free at a point. To me it sounds like he's talking out his arse.Īll free to play games aren't actually added to your account on steam, steam just says you can press play and it stays there as long as its installed on that machine.
